News & Science: Google Earth Engine, Earth's Change from 1984-2012

Google is one of the companies that I respect the most, not only have they developed the freedom-loving open-sourced Android operating system, they have done a lot to promote environmental protection around the world.

Education is one of the toughest things to do on this planet, but Google has over and over again provided the world with knowledge and facts which makes educating much easier.

Their latest work is the publishing of Google Earth Engine images taken from the joint US Geological Survey and NASA mission Landsat between 1984 and 2012. You can select available areas of the Earth to see how a place has changed in this period. I have selected Hong Kong for your preview, you can click the image below to see the slideshow.

More shocking images are to come in the near future, one of which especially anticipated is the disappearance of Antaractic ice cap you saw from the video but not yet from the Google Earth Engine page.

Seeing these images, I think those corporate lobbyists and climate change skeptics will finally shut up.

For now, enjoy flying around the planet to see these horrible images created by mankind.

lobbyist  -- (n)[C] someone who tries to persuade a politician or official group to do something:
skeptic -- (n) [C] US for sceptic a person who doubts the truth or value of an idea or belief:
